This project is based on the concept of jazz reharmonisation. The following posts will address the following questions:
1) What is reharmonisation?
2) Where is reharmonisation used?
3) Why is reharmonisation useful?
4) What are some examples of reharmonisation in use?
5) How will this project be carried out?
The aim of the project is to create a series of rules and guidelines which will enable a musician to reharmonise songs and pieces of music of any style into a style resembling that of smooth jazz.
In order to carry out the project, an understanding of the core principles of jazz harmony and reharmonisation, along with a basic grasp of the key musical concepts found within the smooth jazz style must first be attained. Through the study of audio clips, text documents, instructional videos and interviews, a portfolio containing a collection of various sources will be created in order to prepare the project management for the task of creating the ruleset.
This pre-production portfolio and all work associated with it will be stored within this blog. This blog should be used as evidence of work carried out until this point.
